Brom, Karla

Citi/WWB Financial Risk Management

Ms. Brom is an international development and finance expert with over 25 years of experience. She has been advising and training on the topic of risk management and governance for MFIs since 2001, working with global networks (Accion, WWB, MEDA, Grameen Foundation), investment funds (EFSE, Oikocredit), and multilateral agencies (IFC, CGAP, EBRD) and their MFI partners. Prior to her work in microfinance she was a Senior VP in risk management at Citigroup for 7 years, where her responsibilities included risk management oversight of Citigroup’s 23 branches in Latin America. She is currently working with ACCION’s Center for Financial Inclusion to develop training materials for MFI board directors to better understand their risk oversight responsibilities, as well as working with the IFC’s Global Corporate Governance Forum to create ToT materials on bank corporate governance in the ECA region. Prior to her work with Citigroup, Ms. Brom worked on privatization and financial sector reform in CEE/FSU and as a rating analyst rating structured transactions for Moody's. The Citi/WWB Financial Risk Management training has been delivered to 125 MFIS worldwide.

Ms. Brom received her BA from Wellesley College and her MA in International Relations from the Fletcher School at Tufts University.
