The course is designed for MFI practitioners who would like to learn more about how Human Resources (HR) can play an important role in the success of their operations.
MFIs have two major resources: capital and people. Finance receives the most attention. However, more and more top managers are beginning to understand that MFI success depends on careful attention to human resources. It is essential that people throughout an organization are being managed well and appropriate HR systems are in place to reinforce this.
This course outlines the critical elements of strategic human resource management and provides practical tools and HR systems. Topics to be covered include recruitment and selection, personnel policies, optimal organizational structures, the performance management process, motivating employees, and training and development. The course is very interactive and is based on the HR Management Toolkit developed by MEDA for Microsave. It will include lessons and cases based primarily on African MFI experiences.
