Description

The Islamic Banking and Microfinance course will provide an historical overview of Islamic Banking to present day. It will review the basic theories of financial contracting and transactions.

The characteristics of Funding, Financing and Service products will be presented. The pricing calculations of each product will also be introduced as well as their effect on the accounting system. Finally operational issues of the application and use of Islamic Banking Principles to Microfinance will be discussed.

The course will use practical global examples and participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences. Success will depend on active participant involvement in activities and discussions. The course has no pre-requisites and is open to all students.
