Description

Anton Simanowitz has worked in the field of microfinance since 1997 as manager, trainer and researcher.

He is currently Programme Manager for Imp-Act, based at the Institute of Development Studies, at the University of Sussex, UK. Imp-Act is an international consortium that supports and promotes the management of social performance in microfinance, providing practical lessons for practice and for public policy.

Prior to moving to the UK, Mr. Simanowitz headed the Development Department of the Small Enterprise Foundation, a poverty-focused MFI in South Africa. His work in microfinance has involved contact with organisations in some 20 countries, providing technical support and training in the field of social performance management, client monitoring systems, impact assessment, as well as poverty assessment.

Mr. Simanowitz has published extensively in practitioner and academic publications. He is an advisor to several projects including the USAID Poverty assessment tools project, the CGAP/FORD social indicator project.

Prior his work in microfinance, Mr. Simanowitz worked in community development in South Africa and for an international development PVO based in the UK.
