Luis Fernando Neri


Luis Fernando Neri obtained his Bsc. in Agriculture Engineering with a specialization in Agriculture Economics and Rural Development at Zamorano University in Honduras in 1994. He worked as an Analyst and Consultant for IPC GmbH in Central and South America for two years, after which he returned to La Paz, Bolivia to become National Director of Agricultural Credit for the Ministry of Economic Development. In 1996, he was accepted with a full scholarship to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. In 2001, he graduated with a Masters in Applied Economics, Technology and Finance and was hired as a Business and Strategy Consultant by Diamond Technology Partners in Chicago. He then became Investment Fund Advisor for the Center for Financial Services Innovation at Shorebank Advisory Services in Chicago and later restructured the entire communications and IT departments as Assistant Chief Information Officer at UMass Boston.
In 2007, he co-founded Parity Consultores Bolivianos, the management consulting firm of which he is currently CEO. As a senior consultant, Fernando works in the field of operations optimization for MFIs. He also conducts value chain analysis and development of value chain finance models for the agriculture industry and applies other toolkits, including Operations Risk Management, that allow MFIs to be more competitive, efficient, and sustainable. In 2009, he was named a Human Capital in Microfinance Fellow by MEDA.  From 2012 to 2014 he worked with the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management as lead consultant for MEbA, an innovative global project that links microfinance to climate change. In 2014 he was named board member to one of the largest investment agricultural related funds in Bolivia. In 2015 he was named member of the Auditing Committee of Sembrar Sartawi, a Bolivian MFI that aims to contribute to the development of urban and rural micro- and small-scale enterprises by providing financial services to underserved communities.
