IFC - Digital Financial Services: Partnerships & Innovations

Nuria Aliño, Global Lead of Digital Financial Services at the International Finance Corporation (IFC-World Bank), is responsible for Partnerships and Innovations at the Financial Institutions Group. She primarily focuses on digital transformation of financial services industry accompanying banks and microfinance institutions with their digital strategies. She is also responsible for the promotion of alliances between financial institutions and Fintech or leading technology companies, to accelerate their digital strategies. She is an active advisor regarding Open Banking strategies to facilitate the integration with the digital ecosystems. Additionally, she leads investments in Fintechs, both in debt and in equity. 

She started her career at BBVA where she experienced the transformation of the bank. She held different positions at Corporate and Investment Banking. She headed Mergers and Acquisition and she served as Managing Director at the Private Equity Division. There, she developed, built, and managed a balanced portfolio of direct and indirect private equity investments, including tech companies. She was appointed Member of boards of directors and member of advisory boards and investment committees at funds. She also mentored entrepreneurs, lectured for fundraising, and actively participated within entrepreneurship forums. 

In 2013, she joined the IDB Invest as advisor to the General Manager where she closely worked with banks and innovative financial institutions targeting SMEs through new technologies.
