Massimo Vita is a partner at MICROFINANZA Srl, chair of the Steering Committee for the Risk management Initiative in Microfinance, a member of the Governance Working Group and a member of the Steering Committee for the Africa Board Fellowship which are both managed by CFI-ACCION. Currently, Massimo works as Head of the Support Team for the CreditAccess Asia Holding focusing on improving governance, strategic direction and risk management of the MFIs’ affiliates which are located in South and South-Eastern Asia. Prior to this, Massimo worked as Technical Assistance (TA) Field Expert in the REGMIFA TA Facility responsible for identifying the TA needs of partner MFIs in Sub-Saharan Africa, drafting TA project proposals, selecting consultants, and evaluating the implementation and impact of the TA projects. At MICROFINANZA Srl, Massimo carried out a number of consultancies in corporate governance, risk management, and business planning. While at MicroFinanza Rating Srl, Massimo performed more than 100 rating missions worldwide, managed the start-up of two offices in Latin America, held the position of Operations Director worldwide, and was a Board member of the African Microfinance Transparency association. He also collaborated with UNIDO at the SME department and worked for Arthur Andersen in the provision of audit and risk consulting services for financial institutions. Massimo graduated in Economics and holds a Master's Degree in Development Finance. In collaboration with PROMIFIN COSUDE managed by TRIODOS FACET, he developed a number of technical guides and tools intended to evaluate the effectiveness of MFI governance in providing oversight and strategic guidance.
