Mr. Faz leads a global initiative that provides technical advice to organizations adopting emerging technologies and business models to sustainably serve low income segments. This work spans topics across payments business models, open platforms, fintech innovation, and digital finance.

Before joining CGAP, Mr. Faz was Deputy Director General for Technology at Bansefi, a development bank in Mexico where he helped establish a new business unit offering low cost banking infrastructure and payments services to microfinance institutions in that country.  Mr. Faz also worked at McKinsey, a management consulting firm, supporting large organizations in banking, retail and consumer goods, in leveraging emerging technologies to launch new base-of-the-pyramid businesses.  Prior to that, Mr. Faz held several technical roles as Systems Engineer in startups in Mexico and in Silicon Valley.

Mr. Faz holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from Stanford University in California, and a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico of Monterrey, México.
