Djibril Maguette Mbengue


Djibril Mbengue, a microfinance specialist is a member of the CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) team on “Government and Statutory Policy". Djibril is also a trainer for CGAP training managers of microfinance institutions, executives at central banks and donors/investors. To this end, he has led several training sessions for regulators and executives at Central Banks and Finance Ministries in French-speaking Africa. Djibril is the director of the Microfinance Supervisor Training Program, which is a partnership between the Toronto Centre (a leader in Banking Supervision) and CGAP. Djibril is also involved in consumer protection diagnostics with a special emphasis on statutory aspects.

Before joining CGAP in 2007, he was a portfolio technical manager at the West Africa regional unit of the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and worked on national microfinance strategies. Between 2000 and 2004, he was the director of operations at REMIX, a consultancy firm specialising in microfinance. From 1996 to 2000, he was the internal auditing and management auditing manager of the Crédit Mutuel du Sénégal network. Djibril earned a master’s degree in economic (option: business management) in 1995.
