2018: A year of change for the Boulder Institute

Boulder starts its 2018 training program series with new venues, new program formats, and new topics, responding to the current market challenges and the key issues that professionals from the financial inclusion sector are facing. Reaffirming its commitment to providing premier training in English, French and Spanish, all programs include methods and platforms designed to share and generate fresh ideas that reinforce critical thinking and proactive decision-making.

The program cycle was inaugurated in Latin America with the XII Spanish edition of the Boulder Microfinance Training Program (MFT) and the 1st Spanish language edition of the Rural and Agricultural Finance Program (RAFP), both delivered during March in a 2-week format in Merida, Yucatán (Mexico) with support from the Government of Yucatán and the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY). This is how Boulder has initiated a renewed commitment to the sector and regions of the world.

This 24-year trajectory, dedicated exclusively to promote financial inclusion, continues with a new destination in Utrecht, Holland, where Boulder, in collaboration with the Rabobank Foundation, will offer the 4th edition of the Rural and Agricultural Finance Program (RAFP), from 16th to 27th July, at the facilities of Rabobank. In order to develop this particular program, Boulder receives support from FAO and CABFIN (IFAD, FAO, GIZ/BMZ, UNDF and the World Bank) as well as a select group of faculty comprised of experts in agri-finance topics, who will provide 76 academic hours in total.

The English and French language editions of the Boulder MFT have been updated for the next program offerings, also in 2-week formats, from July 23rd to August 3rd in Turin, Italy. The most recent version of the Boulder MFT now includes plenary courses to discuss the trends, paradigms and global industry challenges, as well as three program concentrations: Digital Financial Services, Policy and Funding and a newly enhanced Management track that includes courses on HR management and leadership for the 21st century. Through these, participants will acquire the skills necessary for decision making and designing of innovative strategies, for a total of 70 academic hours, aimed at promoting sustainable financial inclusion.

Finally, Boulder will close 2018 in Washington DC by delivering B2B: Strategic Response to Risk, in association with the IFC. This 5-day program, designed for senior executives such as CEOs, CFOs and Board members, will bring together professionals to explore risks, competitiveness, digital market, disruptive innovations, lessons learned and more. During 35 academic hours, this program focuses on best strategic approaches, to allow participants to confront their specific challenges, effectively addressing adaptation and transformation measures required to succeed in a changing financial ecosystem.
