Charles Stutley is an agricultural economist who has worked for more than 25 years in the assessment of risk in agriculture and in the design and implementation of agricultural insurance and reinsurance solutions in a wide range of developed and developing countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.  In the 1990's he was a director of Agricultural Risk Management, ARM, Limited providing agricultural insurance advisory services to the industry, followed by a spell as an agricultural reinsurance underwriter based in Zurich.  For the past decade he has worked as a consultant for a number of international organisations including FAO, GIZ, KFW, Oxfam, WFP and the World Bank which are involved in designing smallholder crop and livestock insurance programs with a focus on innovative index insurance solutions.
