Performance Management in Agricultural Finance Portfolios

Petronella Chigara-Dhitima

This is an introductory-level training course on performance indicators and strategies for rural financial portfolios targeting rural finance practitioners (e.g. banks and microfinance institutions), funders, policy makers (e.g. regulators and ministries) and associations or stakeholders supporting rural finance in their countries. By the end of the course, participants will be able to interpret financial statements and management reports of an institution engaging in rural and agricultural finance, distinguish key performance indicators relevant for analyzing agricultural and rural portfolios from those used in assessing pre-dominantly urban and non-agricultural portfolios, Determine profitability position and risks inherent in the institution based on the key indicators and to assess the impact of management decisions on the financial position and overall performance of the institution.
