The 23rd Edition of the Boulder MFT in English, featuring the inaugural Digital Financial Services Concentration, took place in Turin, Italy at the International Training Centre of the ILO from July 17th to August 4th, 2017. The program was held alongside the French language Boulder MFT program, in collaboration with Agence Française de Développement, and the Rural and Agricultural Finance Program (RAFP), in collaboration with FAO and CABFIN. These three programs brought together a total of 268 participants from 58 different countries and 187 institutions including MFIs, Commercial Banks, Central Banks, Ministries of Finance, Donor Agencies, Investors, Development Agencies and more.

The 2017 Boulder MFT English language program offered 39 courses delivered by 49 world-renowned experts on financial inclusion. Our Digital Financial Services Concentration - new this year - included eight cutting-edge courses on strategy, product design, agent banking, digital credit, consumer protection, DFS ecosystems, and regulation and compliance.

The program also featured an enhanced Boulder Master Class: New Financial Inclusion Paradigms which was led by Boulder Institute President Robert Christen, and Vice president Natasa Goronja and co-taught by 20 special guests.  Each morning, participants took part in this dynamic roundtable event by discussing and debating different aspects of financial inclusion, the diversity of approaches and lessons learned. Among the many topics covered were Digital Partnerships with Martin Holtmann (IFC), Interoperability with Greta Bull (CGAP) and Leadership for Change Management with Claire Burns (MetLife).
